At this year’s State of the School event, Head of School Jaime A. Dominguez shared news about a new project that will benefit students in a myriad of ways.
The Fields at North Hollywood Park

Oakwood School is partnering with the City of Los Angeles to renovate fields at the northwest corner of North Hollywood Park. This project transforms the space into a competition-ready venue for multiple sports, providing students with high-quality fields for practice, games, and play just half a mile from the Secondary Campus. Once completed, the fields will support baseball, softball, soccer, and flag football, enhancing student-athletes’ training by reducing travel time and providing a safe, secure environment for practice and competition. Oakwood will have access to the fields every weekday afternoon during the academic year and at select times during the summer. Outside of these hours, the fields will be available for use by local community members.
We spoke to Oakwood School students about what it would mean to have a home field…

UPDATE: The Fields at Noho Park began to be covered with natural turf. This Bandera Bermuda grass is drought-tolerant, lush, and grown to the specifications of top sports fields around the world. In fact, it is the same type of grass used at Dodger Stadium!
