The idea began when Noah’s weekly visits with his grandmother, Ruth, were put on hold during the pandemic. To stay connected, he played piano for her during their nightly calls. What started as a personal gesture soon grew into a way to build community and lift seniors’ spirits. Noah shares, “Music 4 Seniors has one main goal: human connection. It began with the connection between me and my Grandma Ruth, then between seniors and Oakwood musicians, and now between students from five high schools and clients in three states.”
Noah began recruiting students from the Oakwood high school orchestra and pairing them with senior companions. The program currently pairs 15 students with seniors across five schools in the state. He’s collaborating with nonprofits to expand the initiative, hoping to turn Music 4 Seniors into its own nonprofit eventually. Many seniors have shared how much they look forward to these musical connections, and Noah is determined to reach even more people through this heartwarming project.
