Year of the Tiger

Oakwood Parents & Guardians decorated the elementary campus with dragons, red paper lanterns, couplets, and paper cuttings to bring in the new year. In art classes, students were given red pieces of paper to decorate and make wishes. “Wishes” were then displayed on trees and bushes for all to enjoy.

The elementary campus was also treated to a live and in-person performance from special guests, The Immortals. The Immortals are a renowned lion dance team based in the city of Los Angeles. Oakwood School students learned about Lunar New Year, Chinese folklore, and the cultural significance of the lion dance. They were even visited by Sunny for extra good luck!

At the secondary campus, representASIAN decorated a Lunar New Year table with traditional new year elements including sweets, fruits and flowers for their peers to learn more about traditions and passed out red envelopes for prosperity and happiness.
