What Lifts You?
In building these colorful wings, students were invited to each create a feather and to view it as if it were a mini self-portrait by selecting colors, shapes, and designs that reflected their personality. The uniqueness of each feather is maintained in the collection of them all together. Just as individual selves make up a society, these personalized feathers make up our powerful Better Together Wings.
The idea for this project came from Nashville, TN street artist Kelsey Montague, who labels her works “interactive murals.” She encourages people walking by to take pictures with the wings, while pondering the question, “What Lifts You?”
