Join Oakwood at AIDS Walk LA

Last year's Oakwood AIDS WALK team

A message from Secondary Campus Social Studies teacher Mickey Morgan

Over 100 Oakwood students have already signed up for this year’s AIDS Walk—Sunday, October 20th—and we’re hoping to raise a historic high in funds for the event. Oakwood is one of four teams that has been in each AIDS walk, since 1985. Last year—as part of the coalition Kids Who Care, founded by an Oakwood student some years ago—we ranked 7th in the city in fund-raising. This year the 10K walk is downtown, and we would love for you to join us, with whatever family and friends you may wish to bring along; it’s a very wonderful, surprisingly upbeat and joyous occasion. The Oakwood team is at the Kids Who Care station in the Star Teams area.

You can register at our team page here, and APLA will send you more information. And we encourage you to support Oakwood students who are walking; it’s easy to donate on the team page. To learn more, click here for our information sheet.
