In the days leading up to the 2019 Academy Awards, teacher Melissa Berton spoke to ABC 7 in Los Angeles about the “profound experience from start to finish” that she’s shared with Oakwood students and alumni who produced Period. End of Sentence. Sparked by a Girls Learn International trip to the United Nations that she led students on back in 2013, their nonprofit The Pad Project continues to do meaningful work. In the video below, Melissa speaks about their mission and how this film grew out of a simple yet ambitious drive to raise awareness and empower women.
