The Arts Festival Celebrates Creativity & Community

Last Friday, the secondary school enjoyed another spectacular celebration of creativity at Oakwood with the annual Arts Festival. The day kicked off with breakfast in the Old Senior Lot, followed by an opening ceremony that invited all to spend the day enjoying the vibrancy of our community. Gallery walks in the in the atrium and the art studios showcased photography, film, drawing, sculpture, and ceramics. Attendees also experienced mini exhibitions at sites across campus with eclectic titles such as Before You Were Born, Meta Fork, Egg Alert! and Synth Cave. The silent disco made a popular return, and students were treated to performances ranging from monologues to modern dance to KOAK record spinning to chamber ensembles and more. Always a major highlight of the Festival, the annual potluck lunch brought the community together, and according to organizer Mickey Morgan, the quality of offerings may have just made this feast a hard act to follow next year. Finally, the day-long event culminated with The Big Show, a collection of performances in the gym that continued to showcase the immense talent of Oakwood students.

Thank you to all who made the day such an inspiring success and enjoy this look back at The Arts Festival:
