Join Oakwood at AIDS Walk LA

A message from Secondary School Social Studies teacher Mickey Morgan:

Even with widespread tragedies such as AIDS, there are things we all can do. Last year over forty people from the Oakwood community walked in the 32th annual AIDS Walk Los Angeles—California’s largest AIDS fundraising event. We raised almost $20,000 from our family members, neighbors and friends, and Oakwood faculty and staff. Your family and friends are welcome to sign up on our team page as part of the Oakwood team (#0111) and walk with us. Over 100 Oakwood students have already signed up this year, and are listed on our team page, where you yourself can register, or donate to support an Oakwood student.

Last year, more than 20,000 people walked the 10 kilometer (6.2 mile) route and raised almost $3 million for AIDS Project Los Angeles. It was a significant and memorable experience for those from Oakwood who took part — students, faculty, staff, families, and friends. We hope very much that you can join us this year.
